An article running on CBCNews in August 2009 was reporting on the actions of an unknown computer hacker who was able to access the email accounts of his victims and once he was past the security software this con artist would switch the e mail password which disabled the original owners access to the email account. From there the hacker would contact friends of the victim and fraudulently represent himself as the proprietor and asking the friends to send them money through wire transfers. This may not be the worst internet crime ever commited but it does make a big statement about the desparate and vile ways these internet outlaws are willing to take in order to steal from other members of society.
I guess these hackers, scammer types, if looked at as a collective are far more damaging to society than mass serial killers such as the Plainfield Butcher Ed Gein ever was. That is not to say that you want an Eddie living in your neighbourhood or near your local cemetary but lawless people all work as a collective in a sense.
Check the list below for more scams that you should be weary of.

The example above where the hacker entered the world of his victim through identity theft is repeated in an eBay fraud scheme that is currently active. In this eBay scam hackers working from cyber cafes or from remote locations hack into the eBay accounts and steal the rightful owners password. They then run auctions at ridiculously low prices with the intent of baiting their prey. If a willing consumer shows interest by responding, the eBay outlaw offers to discuss business negotiations over the telephone and if the buyer continues on then he or she likely signs over personal information such as a credit card number or a security number to the con artist or transfers money true a wire service such as Western Union. The client never gets the purchased item and the eBay thief moves on to his or her next victim.
Serial crime is not unique to Ed Gein - that's pronounced bean. All criminals are bean heads but serial criminals are serious socio-psychopaths who are on the one hand intelligent enough to learn to con yet deviantly mentally too stupid to use their intelligence for anything more than messing it up for the rest of society.
Great world we live in !!!!

Not all scams have an effect on individuals. Some scams are systemic. The global warming debate that is brewing up opinions from both sides of the argument is such a systemic scam.
While most people are watching for typical con artists that are marginalized as deviant members of society the issues debated in Copenhagen from December 7 to 14, 2009, are driven by men of power who have the social power to change the attitude of the masses......
