Is Gary Ridgway linked to the Angela Marie Girdner 1983 disappearance ?

Gary Ridgway, the American serial killer from Utah known as the Green River Killer, has been incarcerated since 2003 for killing no less than 48 prostitutes.

Sixteen year old Angela Marie Girdner was declared missing in 1983. In 1985 the remains of four bodies were located  but her remains were never located. In December 2009 the Washington County Sheriff's office in Hillsboro were trying to piece together evidence from the remains of one of the bodies which had been misplaced by authorities to try to associate Gary Ridgway to the murder of the 16 year old girl.

Ridgway is denying involvement.

Allen Pinkerton, founder of the Pinkerton Agency, and wild west frontier lawman, is the subject of this post.

Old west legend Pinkerton comes to Illinois from Glasgow, Scotland, and starts out as a barrel maker. Allen Pinkerton, brother of Robert Pinkerton, becomes Chicago's first police detective in 1850 after serving a stint as a deputy sheriff for Kane County Illinois.

The full name of the Pinkerton Agency was Pinkerton National Defense Agency but this wasn't the original name of the first detective agency in America. The wild west legend Pinkerton had started the law enforcement agency with a partner by the name of Edward Rucker and they'd called the venture the North-Western Police Agency.

To become a detective the lawman needed first to become a spy. Pinkerton began learning the art of undercover investigating and of surveillance espionnage. Allen Pinkerton's undercover alias was Major E.J. Allen. He would go on to train his employees in the art of espionnage and "shadowing" criminal suspects became and remains a common detective practice.

Pinkerton is credited with forming a type of law enforcement agency that would be used as a format for many of the future police foundations such as the US Secret Service, and the FBI. 

While lawmen like Pinkerton were highly sought out by people who wanted to rid the wild west of criminal gang members such as train robbers, their services were oftened seen by the working class cowboys, farmers, miners, and others as authoritarian agency doing the dirty work of tyrrant money makers and government officials.

Ironically a good spy needs to be a good liar. Same could be said of a good lawyer. A good liar eventually bites his own tongue and gets caught in his lie. Pinkerton died as a result of a self inflicted wound to the tongue. The old west legend Pinkerton tripped and fell on a Chicago sidewalk and bit his tongue. He later died of complications from this self inflicted wound.

Allen Pinkerton also found the time to write several books on his exploits of the old wild west frontier lawmen.

We live in a corrupt world. People are corruptible. Most people can be bought and all people break the law sometimes.

Blogging about crime seems to be a good way to keep busy.

It is a subject that will never fall short of offering something to talk about. Crimes are committed everyday and at every level of society.

Writing about the history of crime and criminals and outlaws and law enforcement agencies and military people who tell us that they serve to protect humanity while often falling wayside of the criminal themselves could keep one busy forever.

So blogging about the activities of criminals and of lawmen seems like a good hobby.

Blogging about crime is also educational in that you can learn about the way laws are pushed through goverment offices and how organized criminals word just as hard as the politicians to get their values represented in the lawmakers law book. Corruption at this level forms the minds of the general public. While organized crime leaders and their accomplices usually get caught in the criminal act they usually stir up the reality pot well enough until they get caught that we the people end up living on a fine line between what the lawmaker says we should be and what the gangster says or thinks we should be.

Somewhere in between there is the purse snatcher, the rapist, the serial killer, the grave robber, the child molester, the hacker, the person who crosses the street away from the legal crossing zone.

Somewhere in each of those instances there is a story to blog about.

So I blog when I have time and I keep a website called Lawmen Thieves Justice where I write some more about gangsters and lawmakers.

Why ?

Because so far the internet is a free speech place and for the time being I can.
